The Book of Eli
Pros-
High intensity moments might lead to phyisical contact
Denzel Washington is good news for the fellas and the ladies. He kicks ass while looking like Denzel Washington.
Pretty badass.
Cons-
People literally lose their heads. It happens kind of a lot, especially compared to the usual amount of times you see people lose their heads. If your date is into that, well, that’s good, I guess. (But maybe don’t turn your backs on them…)
Let’s be realistic: this was kind of a dude movie. If you’re a man who is often called insensitive, this movie isn’t going to get you any points.
Final Verdict: Probably not so much. But go for it on your own time. Feel free to drink before hand.

The Invention of Lying
Pros-
Actually a good movie. You can talk about it afterwards
Funny without being gross. You can laugh and gain points for taste at the same time, unlike Borat, which you should save for special girls or girls with low or non-existent standards.
Sweet without setting the bar too high. Sure people fall in love, but no one is dying over it.
Cons-
It might not draw especially strong reactions from you or your date. It’s a good movie, but it’s not going to win any Oscars or upset any of the clergy. Well, maybe one or two of the clergy, but only the timid ones. Point is, this might not be an ideal conversation starter.
Some moments of sudden sadness. There are tears. Those are make-or-break moments. Not enough empathy and you’re a heartless bastard. Too much, and you’re a whimpering man-child. Know how to walk that line.
Final Verdict: Go for it. Even with its flaws, they don’t make movies much more date-safe than this one.
